Global Catholic Climate Movement is a global network of over 800 member organizations, dozens of chapters, and thousands of volunteers in 90 different countries. About the position

The Divest-Invest campaign is flagship GCCM program, engaging Catholic institutions such as Bishops Conferences, universities and religious orders in divesting from fossil fuels and reinvesting in renewable energy. The Divest-Reinvest intern will be a key part of the Divest-Invest campaign, researching new potential targets, developing new materials, and assisting the Divest-Invest Manager with tracking and following up with institutions to confirm new divestment commitments. This is an unpaid internship, but GCCM will coordinate with universities and colleges for college credit if desired.

General Mobilization

  • Support one-to-one outreach with campaign targets
  • Assist in tracking and follow up with institutions who have divested or indicated an interest in divestment
  • Research new potential organizational and individual targets and conduct initial outreach
  • Lead in online and offline meetings as needed
  • Research and develop information materials to support campaign needs
  • Collaborate as needed with other climate and faith organizations
  • Maintain and update divest-invest website
  • Provide remote support to events related to the Divest-Invest Campaign and other GCCM activities
  • Assist in compiling divestment case studies

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in environmental or ecological issues, political science or community organizing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in other languages a plus
  • Highly responsible, self-motivated individual, demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Comfort working in a Catholic context
  • Comfort working across different cultures
  • Eagerness to learn new tasks

GCCM interns will work remotely, but must have a reliable internet connection. Interns should be highly motivated with a commitment to environmental concerns, possess strong communication skills, and be willing and able to take initiative. Interns will also need to provide their own computer and internet access.
