About the position

About the position

This position has primary responsibility for managing the community organizing of Global Catholic Climate Movement’s Brazil program, with occasional collaboration with volunteers in Angola and Portugal. Working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring all program objectives are met. This position collaborates with a senior strategist, who leads on strategic vision and network relationships, and a program assistant, who manages administrative tasks.

Areas of responsibility

The main areas of responsibility are as follow:

  • engage volunteers who are implementing the Church’s teaching in local communities–assist in volunteers’ recruitment and training and support their activities
  • working with senior staff, create and implement project management systems–manage timelines, coordinate projects, and ensure objectives are met
  • track network engagement–proactively discover and record volunteers’ activities, maintain notes on the meetings of this position and the senior strategist position, including attendees, outcomes, and next steps, etc.
  • manage logistics for projects/events
  • manage multiple social media networks, including developing a new social media network
  • coordinate with journalists as needed
  • other program coordination duties as assigned

Required skills and experience:

  • 1-3 years’ history of managing a network of volunteers
  • 1-3 years’ history of managing advocacy campaigns
  • familiarity with the Catholic church in Brazil
  • bilingual Portuguese-Spanish or Portuguese–English (native Brazilian Portuguese, able to do basic writing in either Spanish or English)

  • a history of project or program management
