Pasa a la Acción

[Pronto será traducido al Español]

Pope Francis told us: “On climate change there is a clear, definitive and ineluctable ethical imperative to act.” Here are some ideas for you to get involved at different levels:

  1. PRAY:

As Christians we believe in the power of prayer, so we encourage you to pray for the human family to take bold action to solve the climate crisis, caring for God’s creation, for the poor and for future generations. You can include this prayer intention in your personal prayer and in your community’s liturgy (e.g. in Masses or Holy Hours). These resources could be useful:

  2. SIGN THE PETITION:

Let’s raise our voice for climate justice: sign this climate petition urging world leaders to commit to ambitious climate action and solve this urgent crisis. Would be great if you promote the petition in your community, sending them this website, collecting signatures in person by printing this paper petition form, or embedding the petition in your website/blog (by filling out this form and following these instructions).

  3. REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Your “carbon footprint” is the amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support your everyday activities, mostly by burning fossil fuels that emit carbon dioxide (CO2). In other words: When you drive a car, the engine burns fuel which creates a certain amount of CO2. When you heat your house or use electricity, then you also generate CO2. When you buy food and goods, the production of the food and goods also emitted some quantities of CO2. Here’s what you can do about it:

    1. At a personal level: follow these tips to reduce your carbon footprint.
    2. At a parish or school level: propose them to reduce your collective carbon footprint by using any of these “Green Congregation Guides”.

Some past campaigns we’ve done: 1) Lenten Fast for Climate Justice (Feb-April 2015), and Care4Creation Month (April 2015).
