What is World Youth Day?

World Youth Day is often called the largest global gathering of Catholics. Every three years, young Catholics from around the world assemble for a week-long celebration of their identity and values. As Pope Francis says, they “communicate the joy of the gospel to the world.”

Protecting creation at World Youth Day

Global Catholic Climate Movement and partners in the Franciscans’ Justice, Peace, and Integrity commission, the World Youth Day secretariat, and others will coordinate activities throughout Panama City.

Ongoing activities include dedicated prayer space in local parishes, “Laudato Si’ stations” in official event spaces, recycling stations at the youth festival, and more. In addition, a full calendar of events will strengthen action throughout the week.
